Famous SHACK barbeque sauce recipe (Little Rock, Arkansas): – BBQ, tasty, tangy, and unforgettable. SHACK barbeque sauce goes well as a marinade sauce on any meat.
  • 3 – 24 oz. bottles Ketchup. (Use the plastic ones, we will refill after making sauce.)
  • Above 3 – 24 oz. bottles filled with hot water. (Swoosh around before dumping contents into bowl.)
  • (Original recipe uses Grapette.)
  • 1 qt. Vinegar (Anywhere from a pint to a quart)
  • 1 – 4 oz. can Chili Powder
  • 1 – 4 oz. can Black Pepper
  • 1 – 4 oz. can Garlic Salt (SALT, NOT garlic powder!!!)
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1 – small Tabasco (1 to 4 oz.) Start at 1 oz and adjust to taste.
  • 1 – small Yellow Mustard (size of an apple)
  1. Mix ketchup, water and vinegar in a large bowl and transfer to a large pan on “high”.
  2. Place remaining dry ingredients into bowl, mix thoroughly and place in the pan as it approaches a simmer
  3. Stir enough to make it evenly liquid.
  4. Bring to a boil and immediately lower heat to a simmer and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring fairly often to avoid sticking.
  5. Remove from heat and pour back into the bottles you saved. You will need extra bottles.
  6. Yields about a gallon.
