NO MORE GAS GRILL REPLACEMENT PARTS!
Tired of having to change out gas burners, rusted parts and other gas grill components? Never rust out a grill again with Grill Dome! Grill Dome is made from all natural ceramic materials and is warrantied against rusting. Save hundreds of dollars over the years with a Grill Dome. Grill Dome is also a much more fuel-friendly way to cook without compromising flavor developed by charcoal!
Grilling can be made healthy for the environment too. We are not only trying to make sure that our product helps keep the environment safe. Specifically, there has been a lot of debate on what fuel type is more environmentally friendly. Although there is inconclusive support for both Charcoal and Propane fuels, one fact stands out, ceramic grills are much more fuel efficient than metal grills and can reduce the carbon footprint of grilling.
The Debate
Some facts about fuels
- Propane produces about 15,000 Btu per pound and 5.6 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour 1(Source)
- Charcoal Briquettes produces about 9,700 Btu. and 11 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour 1(Source)
- Lump Charcoal produces about 13,000 Btu per pound and 7 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour 1(Source)
- Electric cooking can produce up to 15 pounds of carbon dioxide per hours 1(Source)
- Also lighter fluid contains harsh petrochemicals that release Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which is extremely harmful to the environment. 1(Source)
Facts supporting Charcoal
- Burning a fossil fuel such as propane releases carbon that has been stored underground for millions of years. Charcoal is made from trees that take carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they grow.
- When the charcoal is burned the carbon dioxide is returned to the atmosphere, closing a carbon neutral cycle, charcoal supporters argue propane is a non-renewable source of fuel
Facts supporting Propane
- Propane produces the least amount of carbon dioxide – 5.6 pounds of carbon dioxide per hour
- Gas provides no such disposal quandary—it’s either piped in from a home hookup or siphoned off from metal canisters that can be refilled again and again
- If you have a home hookup, gas does not require you to make trips to the store to acquire fuel – further reducing the overall carbon footprint
Ceramics Grills are GREEN!
- Properly designed ceramics can attain, hold and maintain temperatures much more efficiently than metal grills.
- By design ceramic grills are not conductive like metal grills and hold the heat in.
- However the denser a ceramic the more conductive the unit can act and will lose the advantage over the metal grill.
- Lump charcoal is highly recommended by ceramic grill manufacturers, not only because of the improvement in taste it provides over charcoal briquettes, but also because it releases less carbon monoxide and there is a reduction in the volume of ash it produces.
GRILL DOME is GREENER!
- TERAPEX© ceramics, which are exclusively available in our Infinity Series, can withhold much greater levels of heat than its predecessor ceramic blend. Capturing and retaining more of the heat produced by the fuel means much less fuel burned thought-out the cooking process.
- Grill Dome models are almost TWICE as thick in wall construction compared to our competitors.
- The thicker walls mean more heat will be retained.
- A handful of charcoal can cook a 20lb turkey in 2 hours. A conventional metal charcoal grill would consume far more charcoal.
- With the Grill Dome, you can reuse
- Grill Dome has no air leakage in its units due to the extra steps we take during our manufacturing process to create an air-tight construction. These extra steps help ensure the charcoal flames out instead of burning the fuel out when you turn off the cooker. The leftover charcoal can then be reused the next time and helps conserve fuel in the long run.
- Grill Dome does not use any lighter fluid, which means no VOC’s are emitted during the light up process.
- Grill Dome’s has a 2 door damper system that produces a chimney effect that lights up a load of charcoal in 6-8 minutes. All that is required is one piece of charcoal to be lit, and the rest is taken care of by the Grill Dome. To light your grill we recommend a Fire Starter pack or a Chimney lighter.
Some other Green Ideas
Tips for greener barbecues
- Don’t use lighter fluid which releases Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
- Use reusable dishes rather than disposable and washable napkins rather than paper. If you must use disposables, use compostable plates, cups and utensils or items made from recycled materials.
- Shop greener to reduce waste especially of packaging. Avoid single serving products. Buy in bulk and larger containers.
- After the barbecue, recycle and compost what you can – including charcoal ashes.
- Give away any leftovers to cut down on food waste.
- Light your barbecue with a special chimney starter for greater efficiency.
