Alder Planked Salmon |
Recipe Type: Main
Author:
The flavor imparted by the plank to the fish is more subtle than a regular hot smoke, but it really was some of the best salmon I’ve ever had. Next time I might even use a lighter marinade to let the plank flavor come through a little more.
Ingredients
- 2 sides Alaska Salmon
- 2 Planks Alder
- 1 batch Simple Salmon Marinade
Instructions
- Marinate Salmon for half an hour.
- I got the plank at the fishmonger’s in town, although I’m certain you could get this elsewhere for cheaper.
- I soaked the plank for 2 hours and put it on the GD rack at 450 for 5 minutes, with the side to hold the salmon toward the coals. Then I flipped the plank, put the salmon on for 10 minutes. The plank will start smoking in short order. I had read about problems with plank catching fire, but it didn’t happen.
